We think of a BMCU student whose family income placed her just above the cutoff for Pell Grants and other need-based aid. On paper, she didn’t qualify for assistance, but in reality, her family still struggled to afford the cost of college. Without additional support, she might have missed the opportunity for her education. Through the Emergency Retention Fund, she was able to make her dreams a reality. Maddie Sweatt’s story is a testimony of God’s redirection—shifting her calling from teaching to recruiting and now to nursing through BMCU’s Accelerated BSN program. “For the past few years, I taught high school and worked as a recruiter for Blue Mountain Christian University. Those years were full of growth and memories, but God began tugging on my heart toward something new. He opened my eyes to a calling that combines my love for learning with my desire to care for others. That’s why I stepped into BMCU’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. I’ve always been amazed at how God’s hand is present in the smallest details of the human body. My prayer is to specialize in wound care and serve on medical mission trips—helping others heal physically and spiritually. This is where God is leading me, and I’m excited to follow.” #TopperFamily #NursingJourney

Through His life, His teaching, His sacrifice, and His resurrection, Jesus gives us a hope that never fades. As 1 Peter 3:15 reminds us, “Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you for the reason for the hope that is in you.” For more than 150 years, BMCU has stood as a light on the hill, shaping students to live out this truth. This year, we declare it together: Jesus Christ is the reason for OUR hope. ?✝️
