POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor Speech/Theatre

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-Time Position, Nine-Month Appointment; Assignment to academic rank will be commensurate with experience and education.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

REQUIREMENTS: Teaching of undergraduate courses in speech/theatre or tangential fields as required by the College and specified by the department chair. The faculty member should carry out professional activities, research, and writing projects within the discipline as appropriate, advise students on their academic programs and scheduling, and perform service duties as needed within the department and college. In addition, the position includes responsibility for directing theatre productions.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching in the classroom; advising students on an individual, sometimes confidential, basis which includes course selection and scheduling, academic problems, projects, assignments, career advisement, and co-curricular activities; recruiting and retaining at least 10 students who are to be on scholarship with responsibility for being a member of a Christian Drama Team; accompany the travel team to their performances; scheduling and performing one-act plays in churches and other Christian venues; performing College service duties, especially involving membership on committees.

QUALIFICATIONS: Terminal degree in discipline is required; prior teaching experience at the college level is preferred, but not required; ability to read, write, and speak English; ability to communicate course material lucidly and interestingly to undergraduate students and to generate an atmosphere conducive to learning.
