Wireless Internet Access
Wireless PC access is available at Blue Mountain College. In order to have access to the wireless service, you must complete the following:
1. Sign up for the service. When you complete the Wireless PC Access Sign Up card, the BMC Information Technology staff will connect you to the wireless service. Please allow 1-3 days for connectivity.
2. You will be required to have a valid anti-virus product on your computer. If you do not have an anti-virus product on your PC, you must purchase this product BEFORE you can be connected. The anti-virus software must be kept up-to-date. Should the service lapse, you will be disconnected from the wireless network.
3. Provide your MAC Address to the IT staff. The Wireless PC Access Sign Up card requires that you provide the IT staff with your MAC Address. To find the address on a wireless adapter for Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7:
Step 1: Hold down the Windows key and the “R” key to bring up the Run dialogue box as shown below.
Step 2: Type “cmd” and press the Enter or Return key on your keyboard.
Step 3: When a black DOS screen comes up (as shown below) type “getmac /v” and press the Enter key on your keyboard. (Be sure and put the space between getmac and /v as seen below)

Step 4: You should get information (as shown below). You can scroll up and down the screen. You are looking for the Wireless adapter section. The “Physical Address” has a pattern of xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. This is the number you need to record on the form below on this page.

Anyone using the wireless network provided by Blue Mountain College must comply with the College’s Computer Usage Policy 2.2 which is located on the BMC web page at http://www.bmc.edu/academic_policies.asp. Anyone abusing this policy will be disconnected from the wireless network.
Contact with wireless users will be made through the BMC distributed e-mail addresses only. For assistance, contact ITS staff at extension 100, 102, 248, or 105.
