Welcome to Blue Mountain College and our World Wide Web Site. We are delighted that you have decided to visit us and to learn more about the College and the unique opportunities for students.Blue Mountain College is a Christian liberal arts institution supported by the Mississippi Baptist Convention. Deeply committed to Christian education since its founding in 1873, BMC has continued to attract capable, confident women and men who desire a Christian, caring environment in which to develop their potential. Blue Mountain College is a very special community ... it is a way of life!Established in 1873 as a woman's college, Blue Mountain College began offering a coordinate academic program for men preparing for church-related vocations in 1956. The Board of Trustees in 2005 approved the expansion of all programs to men. This monumental change opened the door for all men who desire an education in a Christian setting to attend the College. In 2007, Blue Mountain College also began offering the Master's Degree in Elementary Education and graduated its first class in May 2008. The College has intercollegiate athletic programs for men and women in cross country, basketball, softball, baseball, and golf. Our students are different ages and come from varying backgrounds. Some come as freshmen; others transfer from nearby community colleges or universities. Regardless of age or background, the individual student is of utmost importance at BMC. We believe in the worth and dignity of the individual and in the ability of every student to participate constructively in her/his educational development. In addition to the academic program, personal honor and integrity are developed and emphasized at Blue Mountain College. The ultimate goals in student development are intellectual integrity, academic excellence, social consciousness, and Christian character. The cost of attending BMC is lower than most private colleges, which gives proof that the high quality education at the College is affordable. More specific information on quality academic programs and costs are available on this Web site.We invite you to explore www.bmc.edu and to contact us for more information. However, there is no substitute for a visit to the campus. When you are thinking about a college, consider Blue Mountain College. Give us the opportunity to show you the campus and our facilities. I would value an opportunity to meet you!Sincerely,Dr. Bettye Rogers Coward Phone: 662-685-4771 (Ext. 130 or 131) E-mail: bcoward@bmc.eduPresident
