Programs for Giving
Blue Mountain College benefits from all gifts -- restricted (designated) and unrestricted (non-designated) gifts. Because the needs of the College are multi-faceted, support for the institution varies, depending upon the way donors like to make a difference with their gifts. For these reasons, a number of Programs for Giving have been established.
The various programs for giving to Blue Mountain College are described below.
- President's Partners (Unrestricted gifts of $1,000 or more per year)
Members of the President's Partners have made it possible to direct significant funds to projects which have been essential to accomplishing the mission and vision of Blue Mountain College. Through unrestricted gifts, the College was able to launch the first graduate program at the institution, to secure high-tech equipment which has been integrated into the teaching-learning environment, extend library holdings in a significant way, enhance institutional scholarshipping to attract college-prepared students, and much more.
- Blue and Gold Sponsors (Gifts of $1,000 or more per year designated for special funds or projects)
These gifts have been used to make a number of positive changes on campus, including the renovations of classrooms as well as Tyler Gymnasium and the Simmons Field House, improved lighting and instruments in Garrett Hall, funding of faculty and student development events, and more. A number of endowed scholarships have been funded by Blue and Gold Sponsors.
- Annual Fund (Unrestricted gifts of less than $100)
Almost one-fifth of the College's annual operating budget comes from gifts from individuals and organizations. Gifts to the Annual Fund are used for the day-to-day operations of the College.
- BMC Century Club (Unrestricted gifts of $100 to $999)
Gifts to the BMC Century Club are used for day-to-day operations of the College.
- 20/20 VISION PARTNERS (Designated: any amount)
Having 20/20 VISION PARTNERS program funds available has made an important contribution to the launching of initiatives which are positioning the institution to achieve its vision:
Within the next six years (2006-2012), Blue Mountain College will achieve a residential population of 175 students and an overall enrollment of 600 students. The college will enroll undergraduate and graduate students who can benefit from and contribute to the culture of the institution. Blue Mountain College, a liberal arts institution, will be recognized for academic excellence and for a caring and supportive Christian environment.
The College has received pledges of $535,685. These funds are being used to redesign the College's webpage, including the launch of an eCommerce function. It has provided funding to launch a marketing campaign - promoting and advancing the College - with extensive advertising and the development of new recruiting materials for the Office of Admissions.
The College simply could not have taken the bold steps it has taken over the past two years to promote the College and raise the level of awareness about what this institution has to offer without these funds.
Other programs are being developed which will focus on specific projects related to accomplishing the vision for Blue Mountain College. These will be added in to this webpage in the days to come.
