Good Morning,
Greetings to each of you on a beautiful Monday morning! The beginning of another week brings with it the opportunity for us to worship together at 10:00 and hear a message from Dr. David Hamilton, a BMC alumnus and trustee and pastor of West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc.

Despite some challenges posed by winter weather, the spring semester is off to a great start. For a record spring enrollment of 578 we say thanks be to God! To celebrate this great number and God’s favor we will gather at 2:30 this afternoon in the foyer of the admin to express our thanksgiving and to enjoy a special treat. Please plan to join in the celebration at 2:30.

Please join me in congratulating our Lady Toppers who are riding a three-game winning streak and our Topper baseball team for winning the series over LSU-Shreveport in their season opener. Our varsity basketball teams are on the road this week. Head over to Tyler tonight and tomorrow night for JV doubleheaders. The JV women will be in action again Thursday night at home. Topper tennis begins this week as well—best wishes to Coach Creekmore and team for a great season. Please pray for Coach Creekmore’s husband, Sam today as he undergoes surgery at 11:30 in Columbus. The home opener for Topper baseball is Friday with a doubleheader at the BMC Sportsplex.

I will be on the road Friday attending the ten-year anniversary observance of the F-4 tornado which destroyed much of Union University’s campus. We join with our colleagues at Union in thanking God for His providence and protection. Monday through Wednesday of next week I will be in Washington D.C. attending the NAICU meeting.

See you at 2:30 this afternoon!

Welcome Back!
It is great to see students returning and the campus springing back to life after the holiday break. I had the pleasure this morning of meeting a group of new students to BMC during their orientation session. Join me today in extending a warm welcome to these individuals as they begin their first semester on the Hill.

The start of a new semester is always a busy time, but I encourage you to take time to join in prayer for our special worship services scheduled for January 22 with Voddie Baucham. All are invited to join in a time of corporate prayer daily at 4:15 in the auditorium this week and next week.

Clint Gannon, our assistant athletic director, has announced that he will be leaving BMC to follow a new employment opportunity. We are grateful for Clint’s service and wish him the very best as he pursues this new venture. His last day on campus will be this Friday.

I will be traveling on Friday to represent BMC at the winter meeting of the Education Commission at MC.

Blessings to all for a great start to Spring 2018!

Happy New Year!
I hope that you enjoyed a blessed and restful break. A single-digit day with a near zero wind chill makes getting back into the swing of things a bit more challenging, but I am nevertheless glad to return and partner with each of you as we launch the spring semester of 2018.

Did you happen to see the full “wolf moon” that lit up the sky last night and early this morning? What a gorgeous site! I was reminded of Matthew 5:16: “In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” As we begin a new season of teaching and learning at BMC, let us commit this semester to glorifying God in all the good works He has given us the privilege of doing. In all that is pursued and accomplished, may He and He alone receive the glory!

We are now less than three weeks away from the arrival of our special guest Voddie Baucham on January 22. Voddie will speak to us from God’s word in chapel that morning and that evening. I invite you to circle this special time of worship with me in prayer daily. All who wish to pray corporately for Voddie and for the services on January 22 are invited to gather daily at 4:15 in the auditorium beginning today through January 19.

Please continue to pray for the family of Mrs. Lucille Travis.

Blessings to all for a productive and joyful 2018!
