Good Afternoon,

I hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful weekend. I discovered yesterday afternoon that it is a sure sign of spring when the Little Dell is filled with students soaking up sunshine from the vantage point of hammocks strung between two trees!

Before looking forward to this week, I want to pause and reflect on the great day we had here at BMC last Friday. Topper Preview Day was a big success; kudos to Lynn Gibson and to the Enrollment Services team for preparing a fine BMC experience. Many thanks to all faculty and staff for making our guests feel welcome. We were blessed to hear God’s Word proclaimed by Jeff Ginn, by Don Pucik, and by Ed Newton, and we were blessed to have so many of our ministerial alums back on campus. Many thanks to Dr. Meeks, Dr. Bain, Gary Linville, Lea Bennett, Anna Quinn, and Michael Warren for all that they did to make Friday a special day. Congratulations to Dr. David Hamilton for being recognized as the Alumnus of the Year.

Congratulations to Adam Hall for being named the SSAC’s golfer of the week last week.

I invite you all to join me in wishing for the members of our Chorale a safe and satisfying tour. The Chorale will be on tour April 2-6 and will visit eight cities. Pray for their safety and for the opportunities that they will have to minister in song.

Along with Anna Quinn and Lea Bennett, I will be in Nashville this Saturday to visit with BMC alumni from that area.

Our golfers are in action this week, and there’s also plenty of baseball and softball action as both teams have home games this week. Check the website for details.

Have a blessed week.

Good Morning!

The calendar has proclaimed the official arrival of spring, and the weekend did not disappoint. I hope that you and your family enjoyed the much-anticipated warmer weather.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Charles Fowler, pastor of Germantown Baptist Church, to BMC today to lead us in worship at the 10:00 hour. On Friday Dr. Jeff Ginn will be our speaker as we celebrate MA Day and welcome our ministerial alumni home to Blue Mountain College. Friday will be a special day as we welcome both these guests and a number of prospective students for Topper Day.

Tonight at 7:30 Lauren Murray and Sadie Sample will present their voice recital in Garrett Auditorium.

The baseball Toppers take on Lemoyne-Owen in a double-header at home on Tuesday; our softball and baseball teams are on the road later in the week.

Tomorrow we will host the employees of the Town of Blue Mountain for an appreciation dinner. We are grateful to Mayor Norton, to the Board of Aldermen, to Chief Johnson, to our volunteer firemen, and to each town employee for all that they do to make Blue Mountain a great place to call home.

Delight yourself in the Lord,

and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
Psalm 37:4-5

Good Wednesday Afternoon!

Being out Monday because of the weather conditions has most likely caused all here on the Hill to do some shuffling of schedules to pack four days into five! Let’s be hopeful that we have seen the last of wintery precipitation for this season.

Congratulations to Johnnie Armstrong on the wonderful front-page article in Monday’s Daily Journal. If you didn’t see it, you can check it out at this link: http://djournal.com/news/right-place-81-year-old-instructor-home-bmc/

Congratulations also to our Topper basketball teams for a very fine season. You kept us on the edge of our seats, and we appreciate your Topper Tenacity!

Our Topper softball and baseball teams play on the road this week. Pray for their safety on the road and on the field.

The Executive Committee of our Board of Trustees will convene on campus tomorrow morning to follow up on last week’s meeting of the full Board. Faculty and staff, I will provide you with an update a bit later.

I close today’s message with a bittersweet announcement: our Director of Alumni Affairs, Lea Bennett, has indicated that she will begin her retirement on July 1, 2014. Serving Blue Mountain College with devotion and excellence for ten years, Lea has made it possible for hundreds of alumni and friends to stay connected to and involved with their beloved alma mater. We will congratulate Lea and pay tribute to her contributions later this spring.
