Good Tuesday Morning to All! Yesterday was Monday all day, causing the Monday Message to arrive a bit late! The absence of a message on Monday has provided me with an opportunity on Tuesday: the opportunity to consider the wonder and the beauty of snowfall, albeit a simple dusting. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands (Psalm 19:1). On this very cold morning let us recognize that each unique snowflake declares the glory of our great God.
On Thursday we will welcome to our campus our good friends from Northeast Mississippi Community College as they partner with us in hosting the fifth annual Construction Conference. We are pleased to have each participant in this conference on the Hill, including Mike Tagert, Northern District Mississippi Transportation Commissioner.
On Friday we will welcome the members of the Executive Committee of our Board of Trustees.
Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon afford great opportunities to come out and cheer on the Toppers as they take on conference rivals Bethel and the University of Mobile. For more information on these events and on all things related to Topper athletics, check out our new sports website: http://www.bmcsports.com. Thanks go to Kevin Barefield, David Harrell, Amy Thurmond, and Danny McKenzie for their work on this impressive new resource.
It was great to have Dr. Rex Yancey with us yesterday and to hear his inspiring message on forgiveness. We look forward to hearing from our own Deena Elliott on Friday.
I close with one other expression of gratitude. In response to last Wednesday’s power outage, a number of folks sprang into to action to ensure that our students were cared for. Kudos to Joey Etheridge and the team from National; to Chef Brett, Deborah, and the MMI crew; to Dean Jack Moser, and to COO Joyce Peters for being on the ready to ensure that all needs were addressed. Thanks also to Tom Lindsey of the Tippah County Emergency Management, to Ray Hall of New Albany Light, Gas, and Water, and to Johnny Breland for responding in such a timely and efficient way.
Have a blessed week!

Good Morning, I offer this morning a special word of greeting to both our returning students and our new students. We are so glad that you are here! May your Spring 2014 semester be rewarding and fulfilling.
As you read today’s Monday Message, I am en route to Jackson once again, this time for a meeting of the Mississippi Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. Please pray for safe travels and a productive day.
Join me in congratulating our Lady Toppers for a big win Saturday over 15th ranked Coastal Georgia. Way to go, Ladies! Action resumes on campus this Thursday and Saturday as our teams take on Loyola and William Carey. We need everyone to come out and cheer the Toppers on to victory!
I covet your prayers as I prepare to share in chapel on Friday on the subject of “Civility, Sacrifice, and Service.”
With a new semester underway, let’s commit ourselves once again to the pursuit of loving God with our minds, recognizing every class as an opportunity to practice the intellectual virtues and to honor God with our best scholarly efforts.
Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

Happy New Year! Welcome back to the Hill on this very cold morning! I trust that everyone enjoyed a pleasant and refreshing break. As we launch a new calendar year and return to the meaningful work that we have the privilege of doing here at Blue Mountain College, let us be encouraged by David’s words to Solomon as he considered the building of the temple: “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He won’t leave you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the LORD’S house is finished.” (I Chronicles 28:20).
Pray for our Lady Toppers as they are at Ouachita Baptist for a game today. Both teams will be away this weekend for games at Brewton Parker and the College of Coastal Georgia.
Several of our folks are dealing with colds, bronchitis, and other “cold weather” conditions; let’s keep them in our prayers.
I will be traveling on Friday to the meeting of the Education Commission of the MBC.
Have a blessed week!
Dr. Barbara C. McMillin President
