Good Morning, I hope that your week is off to a great start. We are past the mid-term mark and rapidly approaching the much-anticipated spring break. I hope that everyone enjoys some well-deserved rest and relaxation next week.
I want to extend congratulations to Mrs. Christi Mitchell and the cast of John: His Story. What an outstanding production! Congrats are also in order for William Thompson for taking home first place in the National Orpheus Vocal Competition over the weekend. This is an amazing accomplishment. Thank you, Dr. and Mrs. Long, for supporting William on his path to victory. William will perform a recital this Thursday evening at 7:30 in Garrett.
Our fine arts folks are definitely on a roll; at the most recent NATS competition in Clinton, BMC brought home a host of awards, including Benjamin Mann (4th) and Doug Washington (3rd) in the freshmen men category; Isaiah Traylor (2nd) in the sophomore men; and William Thompson (2nd) and Drew Warford (1st place award) in the senior men category.
I understand that the Bank is the place to be these days. On behalf of all who are enjoying the free coffee and iced tea, I extend a big thank you to MMI Dining and to Chef Brett and his team for keeping the coffee and tea brewing. Over 15 gallons of coffee were consumed the first day!
Our JV softball girls will be in action at home Wednesday and Thursday, and varsity will be home during the break on Monday and Tuesday. You can support our tennis Toppers at their home courts in New Albany on Friday and Saturday, while the baseball team will be at home again Friday and Saturday taking on the Loyola Wolfpack. Our anglers and golfers will be on the road. Congratulations are in order for the men’s tennis team for knocking off Division III Hendrix College and for the women in their victory over College of the Ozarks.
Basketball season may be over for us, but we have much to celebrate at BMC. Our women’s program earned the SSAC Sportsmanship award; seven of our ladies and two of our men were named to the All-Academic Team. These are great accomplishments. We are proud of our Toppers!
We look forward to Friday when Dr. Meeks will deliver our chapel address. Also on Friday we will welcome to campus a large group of prospective students. Thank you for helping to roll out the red carpet for these students and their parents. A warm welcome and words of encouragement demonstrate to our visitors that BMC is indeed a special place.
Blessings to all for a productive week and an enjoyable break!
