To commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., students, faculty, and staff at Blue Mountain College are spending this day performing acts of service across our campus and across our community. There is much to be learned from Dr. King’s admonitions to his followers, including the instructions “to seek to perform regular service for others and for the world.” May our actions today both illustrate and enhance the legacy of Dr. King.
I am deeply saddened to report this morning the passing of Mr. David Gregory. A member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church team of volunteers who had come to campus to continue their work on the Palmer-Donnell house, Mr. David became ill Saturday evening while staying on campus and passed away late that night having suffered either a stroke or a heart attack. The craftsman responsible for the intricate woodwork adorning the Palmer-Donnell house, Mr. David spent his final days and hours doing what he loved to do: use his skills on mission for Christ. His many contributions to the P-D house will serve as visual reminders of his selfless commitment to service and to the building of God’s Kingdom. We will pass along arrangements when they become available. Please keep Mr. David’s family and his church family in your prayers.
May you find inspiration in the service of others and may others find themselves blessed through your efforts today.
