A Christmas prayer
Greetings to all on this Wednesday of Exam Week!

At this point we are half way through finals. I hope that everyone is faring well and staying on course to finish strong. Drs. Enzor, Mattox, Teague, and I have just returned from the annual SACSCOC conference in Atlanta, where the three of them presented in two different sessions. Their presentations were well received, and they represented Blue Mountain College—as they always do--with excellence. They made this president proud!

Also deserving of recognition is our very own Dr. Lela Hale, who was elected last week as the new Marshall County Superintendent of Education. While we will certainly miss Dr. Hale, who has been in every way an outstanding faculty member, we wish her much success as she provides leadership and encouragement to the faculty and students of the Marshall County school system.

Kudos to our Alumni Director Kayce Bragg and to our Alumni Association President Renelda Pharr Owen for their organization of last weekend’s Topper Fest. Although the weather was somewhat frightful, we still had a good turnout and lots of fun was had by all.

If you have not had the opportunity to do so, please congratulate Miss Johnnie upon the naming of Tyler Gymnasium court in her honor on Saturday. It was a special and unforgettable moment.

I want to offer my appreciation to Dr. Delise Teague for her leadership of our “own a piece of BMC history” project. Delise organized the production and promotion of plaques and nameplates made from the original floor in the gymnasium. Proceeds have gone toward the cost of replacing the floor. The following individuals contributed in significant ways to this project: Connie Newby Davis, Cliffa Foster, Charlette Bain Foster, Vicki Price, Johnnie Armstrong, H.L. Rowen (who made the plaques and nameplates), Bob Hill, Mark & Kellie Fowler, Nancy Byrd, Amy Thurmond, Kayce Bragg, Jody Hill, Emma Ainsworth, Lavon Driskell, Clint Gannon, and Will Kollmeyer. We are grateful for your tireless efforts. You can still support this cause. For more information on how to do so, contact Nancy Grisham.

I close this week’s message with a Christmas prayer for each of our students and their families. May this season’s celebration of our Lord’s nativity be filled with peace, joy, rest, and gratitude for the gift of a Savior. Enjoy your time away and be safe. We look forward to your return in January.

God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen,
Let nothing you dismay;
Remember Christ, our Savior,
Was born on Christmas day,
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy,
O tidings of comfort and joy.

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen. II Peter 3:18
