Good Morning, Everyone younger than the age of 68 witnessed last night something never seen in their lifetime—the “Super Moon.” Appearing 14% larger than usual and 30% brighter than usual, last night’s moon was quite a spectacle. Indeed, the heavens do declare the glory of God!
This week before Thanksgiving break will prove to be another busy one. Dr. Kara Blackard blessed us with a word from the Lord in chapel today; on Friday we will participate in our annual Thanksgiving service. Tonight at 6:00 in the MLB the senior class is sponsoring a concert to support Operation Christmas Child. Come out and help pack a shoebox!
On Thursday we will have a group of special guests on campus to participate in the official opening of our fitness trail. I encourage everyone to come to the trail entrance (to the left of the campus store) at 5:30 to express our appreciation to Sheila Grogan of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Foundation of Mississippi for the funding which allowed us to construct the trail. A “chalk walk” will follow, so wear your walking shoes and be prepared to write your favorite scripture somewhere along the trail.
We are so proud of all the students who represented BMC at the NATS regionals at Ouachita Baptist. Drew Warford and William Thompson brought home second and third place in their category. Isaiah Traylor captured third in his category. Great job, gentlemen!
Congratulations to the men’s basketball team for their win over Bryan. All teams are on the road this week except for our men’s JV basketball team. They take on Bethel Tuesday night at 6:00 in Tyler Gymnasium. Saturday our women’s XC team will run in the nationals in Elsah, Illinois. Go, Toppers! Kudos to our bowlers for their win over Alabama—yes, that Alabama! We are still awaiting the final scores for the Spring Hill tournament.
Jody Hill and I will be on the road tomorrow for a meeting with the Hearin Foundation in Jackson; keep us in your prayers.
Students, on Thursday I encourage you to participate in the FAFSA Fiesta beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the SUB. This is a great opportunity to receive assistance in completing this important paperwork. Check this off your list on Thursday. Many thanks to Beverly Hickey, Brad Hill, and Janice Prather for planning this event.
We look forward to seeing our friends and neighbors Sunday at the community-wide Thanksgiving service here on campus in the MLB auditorium (Lowrey) at 2:00.
Faculty and staff, we will gather for our November meeting at 3:30 this afternoon. Among other topics, we will prepare for our upcoming campus master plan workshop on November 29.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1
