God's Presence was Evident
Good Morning,
I begin this week’s Monday Message with a reflection on last night’s time of praise and worship led by the combined choirs of BMC, First Baptist Ripley, First Baptist New Albany, Hillcrest, and West Jackson Street of Tupelo: what an amazing evening! God’s presence was evident as the choirs and the instrumentalists sang and played with one purpose and one purpose only—to lift high the name of our Lord. It was an unforgettable service. I am looking forward with great anticipation to hearing these choirs at the Mississippi Baptist Convention next week.

Many thanks to Bro. Kerry Peden and the congregation of Salem Baptist Church in Golden for the warm welcome yesterday. It was a pleasure to meet you and to share the story of God’s work on our campus.

Tomorrow evening at 7:00 in the MLB auditorium in Lowrey classical pianist Mark Valenti will be our special guest. This event is free and open to the public; we hope you will make plans to be on campus to hear this very gifted performer.

Our JV basketball teams are in action this week, with road trips on Tuesday and on Thursday. To show our support for these athletes we will observe Topper Day on Tuesday. Topper gear with jeans or khakis will be the attire for the day for faculty, staff, and students, so head to the JAG (Johnnie Armstrong Gallery) if you need to update your Topper wardrobe. The teams will be departing for Martin Methodist at 12:30; let’s gather in the Stevens parking lot at 12:20 to give them a warm send off.

Good luck to our Topper basketball teams and to our Topper bowlers, who will be in action this weekend at the Hammer Lions Classic.

I’m pleased to report that the lights are up and brightening the path for those who want to enjoy an evening walk on the fitness trail. We are thankful for the support of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Mississippi to make this happen. Karate classes begin tonight through our Blue Motion program. Contact Rebecca Parker for more information.

Congratulations to the new members of Kappa Delta Pi; their initiation is this Thursday at 3:30 in the auditorium.

Remember to set your alarm to wake you up early on Wednesday; the BSU will lead our campus-wise prayer time at 7:30 in the auditorium.

Have a blessed and productive week!
