Good Afternoon, This week is already off to a great start with our gospel choir setting the tone in worship this morning! Dr. Brent Barker shared an inspiring message. We are glad to have him and all of the pastors who have gathered on the Hill today to participate in the State Preaching Conference.
Tomorrow will be a fun day as we welcome lots of kids to campus for Literacy on the Lawn. We’ll be playing softball at home tomorrow and then baseball at home Friday and Saturday. Tomorrow evening will be a special occasion as we set aside time at 7:00 in Lowrey Memorial to commission our summer missionaries. Students, I look forward to seeing you in chapel on Wednesday. I’ll be sharing the GROW BMC plan as well as a special surprise. You will want to be there! The Mountain Breeze and The Mountaineer will be presented in chapel on Friday.
Thursday is Research Day. I congratulate each of our student scholars and their professors for their outstanding work. Thank you, Dr. Dunagan, for your leadership of this event. Presentations take place at 3:00 in the SUB.
I’m delighted to announce several new appointments. Beverly Hickey has assumed the role of Director of Financial Aid; Brad Hill has moved to the role of assistant director. Janice Prather will continue in financial aid in a part-time role. Janice, we are grateful for your service to BMC. Dr. Ronald Meeks has assumed responsibility for all ministerial recruiting alongside his faculty responsibilities. Warner Creekmore will join the BMC team as our tennis coach; Brandon Hardin has been named our band director.
On Saturday at 11:00 we will honor the long and meritorious service of the late James Ellis Buchanan, Jr. by naming our business office in his honor.
Recruiting efforts for GROW BMC are in full swing; keep spreading the word that there are great opportunities at Blue Mountain College! Lynn Gibson will be at McNairy Central on Thursday. If you are in that area and need information, be sure to touch base with him.
I continue to receive much encouraging feedback from last Tuesday’s scholarship gala with Tim Tebow. Over 2500 people were inspired by Tim’s testimony with many making decisions for Christ. For that we are most thankful! We are also very grateful to have raised approximately $150,000 for our general scholarship fund. Soli Deo Gloria!
Have a great week!
