Greetings to all at the beginning of another very busy week here on the Hill!
Our celebration of 60 Years of Ministerial Education at BMC receives special emphasis this week, beginning with our own Dr. Meeks leading us in chapel this morning. (If you missed chapel this morning, you missed a great message called “Why I Teach at Blue Mountain College.” I encourage you to check this out on our website and pass it on to anyone who is considering BMC.) On Wednesday area Associational Missions Directors will be here for their spring meeting. On Thursday we welcome Dr. Chuck Kelley and Dr. Rhonda Kelley to our campus along with over 175 guests for our first Ministers and Wives Banquet. A very special evening has been planned for the purpose of encouraging couples in the ministry. On Friday we will observe Ministerial Alumni Day and welcome a wonderful group of prospective ministerial students to our campus. We are honored to welcome back to campus all of our MA’s and trust their special day will be both joyful and worshipful.
Please keep in mind that today at 3:00 (and every Monday) our admissions team will be leading a time of prayer for GROW BMC and for all of our prospective students.
As a GROW BMC update, I am pleased to announce that Liz Thurmond is joining our admissions team today as a full-time recruiter. A graduate of the BMC class of 1983, Liz holds a master of Christian education from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She has served previously as the associate director of the Baptist Student Union at Ole Miss, as the BSU Director at Hinds, and as the associate director at NEMCC. We are delighted to welcome Liz to our team!
We are pleased to announce the signing of our first BMC bowler; Austin Harris of West Union High School has claimed the first spot as a Topper bowler. We look forward to many others following Austin’s lead to become a part of Blue Mountain College. On Thursday our Enrollment Services team will host a luncheon for area guidance counselors to introduce them to GROW BMC.
I offer a word of thanks today to all who joined us last Thursday to learn from Dr. Jeff Docking about the growth plan at Adrian College. His insights were very helpful and encouraging.
You can catch the Topper softball team in action today, Friday, and Saturday at home. The baseball Toppers are on the road this week. Our golf team is in action today and tomorrow in the Redhawk Classic. Let’s bring home another win!
I’m looking forward to seeing all of our Greater Memphis Area Alumni at their annual scholarship luncheon at Ridgeway Baptist Church on Saturday.
On a personal note, I am especially grateful for the many expressions of sympathy upon the passing of my brother. In times of sadness how comforting it is to know that we are being lifted up in prayer by our BMC family!
Blessings to all for a productive and pleasant week, Dr. Mc
