Holy Week

Most likely, during this Holy Week, you will lift your voice in praise with fellow believers, proclaiming “up from the grave He arose” and “He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!” A favorite hymn of mine during any season was written by Isaac Watts in 1707. Pause and ponder with me the weight and wonder of the truth conveyed in these words:

When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

2 Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
save in the death of Christ, my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them through his blood.

3 See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?

4 Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

May you and your loved ones survey with fresh and abundant awe the wonder of the cross and the unspeakable joy of the empty tomb!

With what we hope will be the last appearance of snow for a very long time, we look forward to the return of spring-like temps—which will make tomorrow afternoon the perfect time to take in some baseball. Plan to support our Toppers tomorrow afternoon and for their weekend home stand at BNA Park. The softball Toppers head to Freed on Saturday for a big series.

Tomorrow night we welcome Dr. and Mrs. Fisher back to campus as our special guests at the annual Accolade Dinner. We look forward to being inspired and challenged by Dr. Fisher’s address.

The Tebow event is less than a month away (April 12); tickets are still available in the business office or by calling 662-720-7788. Remember to pray for Tim as he prepares to share with us at the first BMC scholarship gala.

Pass the word that BMC is recruiting students to be in our first band and first drum line and to form varsity tennis and bowling teams as well as junior varsity softball, baseball, and women’s basketball teams. The cheer squad is also expanding. For questions about athletics, check with Coach Lavon Driskell for more details or visit the website. Check with Dr. Long or Dr. Enzor regarding band and drum line. We are also recruiting students to form a yearbook and newspaper staff. We need your help to get the word out about GROW BMC!

Easter blessings to all!

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9
