Engaging in Active Learning
Good Morning,
How pleased I am to welcome our students back to campus for the Spring 2016 semester! It is going to be a great spring at BMC. In addition to engaging in active learning under the tutelage of our stellar faculty, this semester will afford you the opportunity to hone your leadership skills as we launch our first series of TACT Leadership Seminars. In chapel on Wednesday, I’ll share more information about how you can participate. I strongly encourage you to commit to being a part of this special initiative.

Monday, January 18, is MLK Day—a time traditionally observed at BMC as a “day on not a day off.” Brett Fowler will be sharing with us in chapel this Wednesday some of the service projects that are planned for that day. I hope that each of you will plan to give back to our community through service in some way on this special day. I will share more about the significance of the day in chapel on Friday.

A major event on our campus this spring will be our first Ministers and Wives Dinner on Thursday, April 7. Drs. Chuck and Rhonda Kelley will provide words of encouragement for our special guests—the ministers and their wives who so faithfully serve our area congregations.

Of course a highlight of Spring 2016 is BMC’s first scholarship gala on April 12 with Tim Tebow as a special guest and speaker. Student tickets are available in the Business Office. Join me in committing now to pray for Tim as he prepares to address our community in April.

I’m pleased today to announce that Mr. Jody Hill is transitioning from his role as development consultant to a new role as Director of Development at Blue Mountain College. Please join me in congratulating Jody and in welcoming him to our campus.

Tonight’s the night to cheer on your choice for the national college football championship. Students can enjoy the pre-game hype and the game itself at the welcome back party in the SUB at 6:00.

The Topper basketball teams take on Middle Georgia at 2:00 and 4:00 on Saturday. If you haven’t been to a Topper game this season, I encourage you to turn out for Saturday’s games and show your support for our athletes and coaches. Let’s pack Tyler Gymnasium and cheer our teams to two victories!

Also, let me encourage you to visit HeBrews this week and let Mr. David know how much we appreciate having such a great place to hang out and enjoy our favorite form of coffee--I’m all about the sugar-free caramel latte with skinny milk and no whip (as Mr. David describes it)!

As you read this, I am en route to Jackson for the winter MAICU meeting. I will look forward to welcoming everyone back in person on Tuesday.
