I hope that the second half of the fall semester is off to a great start for each of you. Today is a special day on campus as we welcome a host of prospective students and their families to BMC. Please join me in thanking these folks for choosing to spend their day with us and in encouraging them as they consider making Blue Mountain College their college of choice.
After we hear from Dr. Ken Hester in chapel this morning, current students are invited to enjoy the cookout on Hearn Plaza and the music provided by the Mizells, featuring Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Sam Mizell. Lunch will be served from 11:00 until 1:30.
Today our golfers will hit the links at the Freed-Hardeman Invitational. On Wednesday our softball Toppers will travel to Ole Miss to play in the Ole Miss Fall Softball Scrimmage. The cross country team will compete at Mississippi College this weekend.
I will travel to Jackson on Thursday to attend a luncheon honoring Senator Thad Cochran.
On Friday we will welcome the members of the Education Commission of the Mississippi Baptist Convention to our campus for their fall meeting.
Here is a thought to ponder as we begin a new week devoted to Christ-centered academic excellence:
“There are those who seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge; that is Curiosity.
There are those who seek knowledge to be known by others; that is Vanity.
There are those who seek knowledge in order to serve; that is Love.” ― Bernard of Clairvaux

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9
