I trust that your weekend was all that you hoped it would be! Today begins the first full week of class at BMC and a return to a more routine schedule. If my math is correct, this is my 55th full-time semester in higher education—and I still love the excitement and anticipation that accompanies another new beginning.
I can’t think of a better way to start this week than to hear from our chapel speaker Dr. Larry Robertson, President of the Tennessee Baptist Convention, pastor of Hillsdale Baptist Church in Nashville, and father of senior Morgan Robertson.
The chapel period on Friday will be extended as we celebrate the beginning of the 2015-16 academic session with a formal convocation service. The occasion will include a recessional with faculty leaders in full regalia and a presentation of the college’s emblems. I will have the privilege of delivering this year’s convocation address; please pray for me as I seek the appropriate words for this occasion.
We will also welcome on Friday the members of our Alumni Association Board who will be attending their fall meeting Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Please lift up in prayer new student Denio Chirindza. Denio’s father passed away on Friday. Please continue to pray for Chris Driskell, who is recovering from surgery.
Be strong and of a good courage!
Dr. Barbara C. McMillin President
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9
