How grateful we are to see the sun shining brightly on the mountain today! The poet Shelley asked “If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?” Let’s be encouraged that Spring can’t be too far behind!
We have a very busy week on campus. The spring musical, Songs for a New World, opens Tuesday night at 7:30 with performances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings in addition to matinees (see the website for more information on the matinee schedule). The softball team is in action at home today and Thursday. The baseball team will take the home field on Thursday also. Saturday is Senior Day in Tyler Gymnasium as both basketball teams will be in action against Martin Methodist. Keep all teams in your prayers as they also have away games this week. I encourage you to come out and support our actors and our athletes as they shine on the stage, the field, and the court.
We will have a very special day on campus Friday as our Board of Trustees gathers for its annual spring meeting. We are grateful for their service to BMC and pray God’s blessing on their work.
Dr. Emily Derrick will share with us in chapel today; the BSU ministry teams will lead us in worship on Friday.
With last week’s crazy weather, I did not post a Monday Message. So, here’s a belated birthday wish to Savannah Buck, Leslie Nicole Lewis, Crystal Trullet, Courtney Britton, Sarah Lowery, Jake Omedeo, William Carr, DeAundre Smith, and Kayla McMillen. Greetings this week go to Jacob Clayton Meeks, Courtney Vanderford, Mary Katherine Hathorn, Megan Elizabeth Watkins, Cassandra Miller, Annabelle Smith, Dr. Stewart Bennett, Cole McBride, Myra Jean Simmons, and Peyton Holland.
I close with a word of thanks to the great folks at First Baptist Church of Winona. I had the privilege yesterday of sharing an update on BMC with them in the morning service. Thank you, Dr. Mimms, for extending to me this invitation. I’d also like to thank the members of our Alumni Association Board for giving me the opportunity to share an update at their meeting on campus Saturday. Thank you, alums, for your faithful support of your alma mater!
