Let me begin by expressing my gratitude to all who participated in yesterday’s MLK Day of Service. Students, faculty, and staff joined forces to pick up trash, rake leaves, paint the porch at the Victorian house, clean the sanctuary at Lowrey, polish silver, bag and carry out groceries, visit nursing home and hospice residents, work in Tyler Gymnasium, serve at My Choices, and participate in an array of projects at other locations. As I shared during our devotional time, Dr. King once said that “all labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” Thank you all for pursuing your respective tasks with painstaking excellence.
We will end this week on another special note on Saturday as we celebrate Topper Homecoming. The Homecoming Court will be presented at 12:30 in the Modena Lowrey Berry auditorium, followed by both basketball teams taking on William Carey in Tyler gym. (Family and friends of the court are invited to a reception at Armstrong at 11:00.) The games begin at 2:00. We are delighted to welcome back to campus all of our alums and especially those associated with former Topper basketball teams. With Mari Hubbard, Dixie Everett, Johnnie Armstrong, Jack Moser, and Lavon Driskell all in attendance, we will have the opportunity to interact with every coach who has led a Lady Topper team.
Please keep my in your prayers as I am traveling today to MC for the MAICU meeting.
Blessings for a great week at BMC!
