Welcome Back!
Greetings to all on a very rainy Monday!

What a pleasure it was this morning to welcome a great group of new transfer students to Blue Mountain College! In our orientation session I challenged them to invest themselves in the life of BMC by looking for opportunities to grow, support, and serve. I know that each of you will extend to these new students a warm welcome to the Hill.

Of course we are delighted to welcome our returning students back to campus after the long holiday break. I trust that all are ready to hit the ground running as day classes resume tomorrow. Graduate and evening classes begin tonight. May this be your best semester ever at BMC!

I hope that everyone takes note of the posters dotting the campus in recognition of our new CARE project. CARE--COLLABORATIVE AND ACTIVE LEARNING THROUGH COURSE REDESIGN TO ENGAGE STUDENTS—is the name of our Quality Enhancement Plan. You’ll be hearing much more about this important project and how it will impact learning on our campus in the days ahead.

Just a friendly reminder that our Wellness Center opens daily at 6:00 a.m. I know that many of you have set fitness goals for 2015; utilizing the equipment at the WC is a great way to meet those goals. (I’ve been going at 6:00. Join me and we will hold one another accountable!)

Our Topper roundballers are having great seasons. After a trip to Martin Methodist on Thursday, they will be in action at home Saturday. Let’s pack Tyler gymnasium and show the Toppers that we are behind them 100%. A big shout-out goes to Shane Butler for breaking the men’s all-time scoring record last Friday night with a total of 1,426 points. Way to go, Shane!

For those needing new BMC attire and/or gift items, the Johnnie Armstrong Gal-ry and Campus Store will be open Saturday afternoon 1:30-4:00.

I look forward to seeing everyone in chapel on Friday, at which time I will have the opportunity to set the stage for the upcoming MLK Day of Service (January 19).

Stand firm. Shine bright. Be a blessing. Give God the glory.
