Greetings to each of you in the middle of another busy week on the Hill. Several of you are aware that I was in an accident over the weekend. Thank you for your expressions of concern. I am blessed and grateful to report that there were no injuries. In those few moments of experiencing a vehicle out of control I likewise experienced the totality of God’s being in control. How amazing to know that the God who controls all things and all situations delights in holding us firmly in the palm of His hand!
I want to thank Dr. Justin Spencer for the message he shared with us in chapel on Monday. I appreciate his testimony and pray that his words ministered to many in our community.
Tomorrow evening we will have special guests on our campus as members of the local chapter of our alumni association will meet here for dinner and fellowship. The evening will also include Duncan Schaefer’s worship leadership project at 7:00. If your schedule permits, I know that you will experience a blessing and that Duncan will appreciate your support.
Remember our students who will be participating in the BSU fall retreat this weekend. I also covet your prayers as I travel today to Chicago to participate in the inauguration of David S. Dockery as the new president of Trinity International University.
I offer a word of congratulations to Dr. Johnny Mattox for being named president of the Mississippi Science Teachers Association. I also am very pleased to recognize Dr. Ronald Meeks as our HEADWAE Teacher of the Year and Andrew Chesteen as our HEADWAE student of the year. Congratulations!
On a final note, I congratulate Dr. Stewart Bennett, Dr. Terry Taylor, and Dr. Sharon Enzor for their work on our new major in criminal justice. We received notice from our accrediting agency this week that this new program has been approved.
Blessings for a good rest of the week!
