Fall Break
Good Morning,

I hope that each of you enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing fall break. It was another banner weekend for area football fans. Congratulations to the Bulldogs and the Rebels for bringing accolades to our great state!

I am especially pleased today to extend congratulations to our own athletic program for a recognition that was announced last week at the annual MAC conference. It was my honor to accept on behalf of the College the Halbrook Award for Academic Achievement Among Athletes. This is award is presented to the four Mississippi institutions of higher learning with the highest percentage of graduating athletes. With a 100% rate, Blue Mountain College received the award for the independent colleges. BMC also received the John C. and Ernestine McCall Halbrook Achievement Award, which is given to the single college or university in the state with the greatest increase over the previous year in the percentage of athletes graduating. Brian McDonnieal and Katie Prince were also recognized as Halbrook certificate recipients. Congratulations, Toppers, for setting the bar high!

Today another fine group of prospective students will visit our campus for Preview Day. Please join me in giving them a warm welcome to BMC.

We are thankful for Dr. Cutrer’s message this morning regarding God’s peace, purpose, and plan. We will look forward to hearing from Jody Hill, author of 38: The Chucky Mullins Effect, on Friday. The book, which normally sells for $20, will be available to students for $5.00.

Tomorrow our campus will be the site of the Future Educators of American Leadership Conference, and tomorrow evening we will have the opportunity to listen as Dr. Nancy Kerns delivers the annual Humanities Lecture in Garrett Auditorium at 7:00.
Friday we will also host the members of the MBC’s Education Commission. We are thankful for the service of these individuals and look forward to their annual visit.

I close by welcoming back to campus Mrs. Joan Herrington. We are thankful for her recovery and return.

The forecast today is for threatening weather conditions. Please be mindful and be prepared. Please keep me in your prayers as I will be traveling later this afternoon to give a report to the North Central Association at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada.
