Dear BMC Family, Some college campuses are known for their iconic landmarks: a stately bell tower, an ivy covered hall, a massive library, or even an athletic arena made famous by the All-American who called it home. While ours has its own distinctive charms, it is not the Little Dell or the Gal-ry or Tyler Gymnasium that defines us--no, Blue Mountain College is defined by her people, and specifically by a cadre of gifted souls whom God called out for a lifetime of service to this special place. Throughout our long 140-plus years a few such souls have so invested their lives in this place that it is difficult to envision one without the other. We are deeply saddened today by the passing of Dr. Betty Hearn, a beloved professor of English who challenged and equipped her students to strive for the standard of excellence that defines BMC. Our fittest tribute is to conduct ourselves daily in a way that says "we are Blue Mountain College." Dr. Betty Hearn, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
Please pray today for Dr. Betty's family--a family which includes the innumerable students whose love and appreciation of great literature and beautiful words began in her classroom. Those wishing to pen their own tributes to Dr. Betty may do so on the BMC Facebook page.
