Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology

Founded in 1873 as a Christian liberal arts college and affiliated since 1920 with the Mississippi Baptist Convention, Blue Mountain College seeks applications and nominations for a faculty member in Biology as an Assistant or Associate Professor beginning Fall, 2011. Activities required of faculty include competency in the discipline, a high level of proficiency as a teacher, student recruitment, curriculum development, academic advising, committee service, and service to the department, college and the community. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in cell biology, physiology, genetics, bioethics, immunology, biological research, medical microbiology as well as general biology, serving on college committees, providing student academic advisement and contributing professional expertise in a positive way to the profession and to the larger community. Qualifications include an earned doctorate in biology or related field (ABD considered), background in biology, experience and demonstrated success in college teaching. Salary and benefits include competitive salary commensurate with experience, benefits including medical insurance for employees, retirement plan with match and free tuition to BMC for employees and their dependents.
