Message from the Chair
Dr. Jenetta Waddell
Faculty members in the Department of Education bring years of experience – from pre-school to graduate school – to the classroom at Blue Mountain College. We maintain high standards of teaching and learning in the classroom. We continue to build on our program of excellence benefiting the teaching profession, the communities in which we live and work, and thousands of children whose lives are touched by our graduates.
The Department offers undergraduate majors in Elementary Education and Secondary Education. In Elementary Education, students may obtain a teaching certificate in Kindergarten – Grade 3 or Kindergarten – Grade 6. In Secondary Education, students in Biology Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, and Social Studies Education may obtain a teaching certificate in Grades 7 – 12. In the Secondary Education fields of Physical Education, Music Education, and Spanish Education, students may obtain a teaching certificate in Kindergarten – Grade 12. At the graduate level, we offer two Master of Education degrees: Elementary Education, focusing on Kindergarten – Grade 6, and Literacy/Reading, focusing on Kindergarten – Grade 12.
We invite you to join us as we continue to influence the lives of people we encounter on our academic journey.
