Blue Mountain students stand out in state opera competition

BLUE MOUNTAIN COLLEGE

William Thompson from Brandon, and Andrew Warford from New Albany, recently competed in the John Alexander Vocal Competition presented by the Mississippi Opera in Jackson.

Both students are seniors at Blue Mountain College majoring in worship leadership.

Thompson was selected as one of the three finalists in the Student Artist category and will participate in the showcase concert on Monday, October 16. Warford was one of two additional students awarded honorable mention.

Thompson and Warford are vocal students of Dr. Greg Long, chair of the department of fine arts at Blue Mountain College.

“I am very proud of Will and Drew. They are talented young men who have brought great recognition to our fine arts department and to BMC,” stated Long.
