BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Nancy Hopps McDonald has been named the Director of Alumni Affairs at Blue Mountain College.

McDonald, a 1982 BMC alumna, will replace Lea Bennett, who will retire June 30 after 10 years as alumni director.

“Nancy brings a wealth of talent, enthusiasm, and creativity to the position of Director of Alumni Affairs,” said Dr. Barbara Childers McMillin, BMC president.

“Our alumni will quickly appreciate her love for people, for service, and for all the things that make Blue Mountain College so special. We are blessed to have Nancy join us and look forward to introducing her to the BMC family.”

After graduating from BMC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in art, McDonald earned her Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Memphis and at the same time embarked on a 25-year teaching career, with stops at St. Paul’s Catholic School, Memphis College of Art, Roane State Community College, ands Tennessee Tech University.

She also has taught art in the private sector and, since 2011, served as activities coordinator at the Good Samaritan Society at Fairfield Glade, a retirement center in Crossville, Tenn.

McDonald will be responsible for growing and directing a comprehensive alumni program for BMC.

“I’ve dreamed of returning to Blue Mountain College in some capacity for many years, and this is an awesome opportunity,” McDonald said. “I could not be more delighted to have this chance to rejoin the BMC family.”

Beyond her experience in the visual arts, McDonald also teaches guitar lessons, is a children’s book illustrator, and serves as a worship leader.
