Derek Cash joined the BMC faculty in 2011. He received his degrees from University of Oklahoma and Cambridge – the one in England. During his childhood years, he lived in Nebraska, Texas, and Oklahoma. His first job where he earned an actual paycheck was at a concession stand in a movie theater. He was asked where he would be earning a living if hewasn’t at BMC, and he said he would be a librarian somewhere else.

“Have you ever had a job people might not suspect,” he was asked.
He replied, “I was a reservation agent at the Beverly Hills Hotel.”

Derek collects coffee mugs and postcards. He also enjoys traveling and writing handwritten letters. When writing his letters, he enjoys the atmosphere of a coffee shop or a Waffle House with all the people meandering around. His favorite novel for leisurely reading is Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, and his favorite quotation is, “If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things you lack. If you don’t have it, no matter what else there is, it’s not enough.”
