Dot Locke joined the BMC staff in 1993 when she began working the grill in the Student Union Building. Today, there is no grill; the stage holds its resting place. After seven years, she moved to the President’s Alumni Affairs Office before finally becoming manager of the Campus Bookstore and mailroom.
Locke graduated from Northeast Mississippi Community College after growing up in Blue Mountain. Her first job was at City Sundries, the local drug store located in downtown Blue Mountain. She is married with two children, and she has five grandchildren, all boys. Her leisure time is spent riding ATVs and shooting guns. She is not much of a reader, but she does have a favorite quotation: “TGIF.”
The one job Mrs. Locke has had in her lifetime that no one might suspect is she is a Certified Medical Assistant. When asked what she would do if she weren’t on the BMC staff, she replied, “I would be retired.”
“What’s the first thing you’re going to do when you retire?”
