BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – College students will be able to tour London -- and pick up three credit hours of history in a distinctive program offered through Blue Mountain College.

Dr. Derek Cash, director of library services at BMC who earned his Ph.D. in history at the University of Cambridge, will lead the course, July 1-10.

The course is a study of London from Roman times to present, and students will see and examine sights and artifacts that present a history of London. All classes will be held in the International Hall at the University of London.

The cost of the package is $3,785, and it includes airfare, room and board, tuition, local transportation and various tourist fees.
“We would like to have students from other colleges join us,” Cash said. “This is a great way to learn English history, earn credit and have a lot of fun. I went on a similar trip when I was a college student and it was one of the most enlightening experiences I had.”

Cash said interested students at other colleges and universities should apply to BMC as a “non-student” and have a transcript sent to Blue Mountain. At the conclusion of the trip, BMC will then send documentation for credit back to the student’s current college.

He also noted the trip is also open to travellers not interested in college credit. The tuition portion of the trip would be waived for them, but a $100 travel guide fee would be charged. Full payment is due February 28.
